Business Undergrad Students recognized at Leadership Conference

The Business Professionals of America 2009 National Leadership Conference has honored achievement of today's students - many of them enrolled in bachelors programs - who are likely to become tomorrow's movers and shakers.

One of the winners of the contest, which was held from June 17-21 in Dallas, was Angela Myers of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, who received the first place medal in payroll accounting as well as second place in the financial analyst category along with her team, according to HtrNews.com.

In total, local students came back with 10 medals, including banking and finance, and managerial accounting.

Business Professionals of America is a career technical student organization for those who pursue careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

It has more than 51,000 members in more than 2,300 chapters in 23 states.

Meanwhile, business careers in finance and accounting show a very promising trend. Estimates for job growth in the financial analysis sector are 34 percent by 2016, with top earners grossing more than $130,000.

Demand for accountants will rise by 18 percent in the same time period, and top salaries are expected to exceed $94,050.
