According to a report published by Robert Half International, a specialized staffing firm, and CareerBuilder, those who are planning business careers in the fields of technology or sales will have bright employment prospects. The Employment Dynamics and Growth Expectations Report has found that 53 percent of employers plan to hire full-time workers during the next 12 months. Moreover, those with skills in the areas of technology, customer service and sales will be in particular demand for the next several years, and 60 percent of employers said they would be willing to negotiate higher salaries with qualified candidates.
"Companies already are identifying the key skill sets they will need in new hires to take advantage of the opportunities presented by improving economic conditions," says Max Messmer, chairman and CEO of Robert Half International.
In view of these findings, it may be a good idea to consider enrolling in an MBA program to boost one's employment and earnings potential. In 2008, the average salary of an MBA holder ranged from $73,510 to $171,583, according to research company PayScale.com.
The survey also found that more than half of employees polled plan a career switch or going back to school when the economy recovers.
