Updated: Thursday, August 6th, 2009

If the predictions of Parks Associates' analysts prove correct, there will be ample opportunities for business careers in the wireless home-based healthcare applications and services sector.

The consultancy's report entitled Wireless Healthcare: Analysis & Forecasts suggests the market for that kind of technology will growth at the rate of more than 180 percent and will be worth some $4.4 billion in 2013.

Harry Wang, director of health and mobile product research at Parks Associates says "wireless is an important crossover point for the healthcare sector and high-tech industry."

The report further predicts mobile carriers will use their network resources to target markets like healthcare through both wholesale and retail partnerships. It gives examples of recent business deals such as the one struck by Verizon Wireless with LifeWatch and Qualcomm, and says such agreements will become ever more popular.

People who make similar business decision at telecommunications companies tend to be business school graduates.

Depending on the specific position and years of experience, average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, although top earners can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
