Updated: Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
The Word of Mouth Marketing Association has announced it will address the use of social media and international business at its annual summit in Las Vegas this week.
Entitled Creating Talkable Brands: Beyond Social Media, the conference will discuss the ways in which marketing professionals can harness technology and social media to reach high numbers of consumers.
Marketing experts and business leaders from across the country will hold dozens of educational sessions that will teach attendees to build their brands.
Chuck Harwood, assistant deputy director for Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection, will outline new guidelines on endorsements used in advertising and offer advice on best business practices for marketers.
The conference will close with a general session during which professors from across the globe will answer questions on the merits of word-of-mouth marketing, both online and offline.
Dave Kerpen, the association's CEO, said the summit "is poised to become the leading social media and word-of-mouth marketing conference of 2009."
Associates, bachelors and masters programs in business may help current and prospective marketing professionals stay abreast of growing trends in their fields.
Employment of marketing managers, whose median annual earnings were $98,720 in May 2006, is expected to grow by 12 percent over the next seven years.
