CEO shares his secrets in an online degree program
Updated: Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009
Some say that the best way to learn about a career is to speak with experts in one's chosen field, or mentor with more advanced professionals. Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric seems to hope others follow this advice as he has established his own MBA online degree program.
The Jack Welch Management Institute offers an online MBA through Chancellor University in Ohio and the program was first officially announced in June of this year.
Welch offers the traditional MBA and a Masters of Management, and courses are set to begin in fall 2009. He aims to keep smaller class sizes and will advise professors and faculty, plus appearing on video to announce business topics and news.
Chancellor University's president Dr George Kidd feels that the program fits older and younger students as an "exciting option for entrepreneurs who seek to improve their managerial skills." Kidd added the program will also be beneficial to others returning to school for continuing education or those hoping for a new career.
According to BusinessWeek, Welch says that his personal connection and video feeds make this program unique and give the impression that students are learning directly from seasoned professionals.
