Sun Trust Banks' study shows more Americans consider continued education
Updated: Monday, August 17th, 2009
A new survey has indicated that instead of dimming prospects for business careers the recession may actually boost them as more people than ever ponder returning to school to obtain a marketable degree.
Solid Index, published by Sun Trust Banks, tracks the way finances impact consumers' daily lives and decisions, and it has found 51 percent of parents and more than one-third of all adults believe more education is a good idea.
"Persistent optimism felt by Americans reflects their resilience and eagerness to capture the American dream," says Rilla Delorier, chief marketing officer for SunTrust Banks.
She also adds that proper financial planning can help everyone reach their and education goals.
While there are many programs that can help students prepare for rewarding business careers, accredited MBA degrees - including online degrees - are among the most popular ones. Salaries for MBA holders depend on a variety of factors, including field, company, position and years of experience, but research company PayScale.com has said their average salaries ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008.
