KPMG: Technology execs believe their sector will lead economy out of recess
Updated: Friday, August 21st, 2009
A new poll from consultancy KPMG has found leaders of the technology sector say their companies will be at the forefront of the anticipated economic recovery. As such, they may provide some of the most rewarding opportunities for business careers.
The survey found two-thirds of senior technology executives say their industry would fully recover before the overall economy does. In addition to that, a total of 39 percent predict the economy will recover by next year.
In fact, a full 80 percent of those surveyed say they expect business conditions in the technology sector to improve in 2010, while 78 percent say they will see stronger revenue and 72 percent are expecting improved profitability.
"The results are in line with recent earnings reports in the technology sector which suggest business conditions are starting to improve," says Gary Matuszak, partner, global chair and U.S. leader for KPMG's Information, Communications and Entertainment practice.
"There are also reports of software industry sales expanding 5 to 10 percent annually after the recession," he adds.
Those who would like to be prepared to reap the rewards of the expected growth may consider enrolling in a bachelors program in business or pursuing an MBA degree.
Both traditional and online schools offer a variety of programs that suit the needs and expectations of everyone - from those heading straight to college from high school to busy working professionals who want to boost their skills.
