Those considering applying to business school may be interested in the findings of a new report that predicts good career prospects for those in the cardiology IT market.
According to Millennium Research Group (MRG), a consultancy, the growth expected through 2015 will stem mainly from the expected adoption of electronic medical records (EMR) for which the stimulus package has provided billions of dollars.
"Although the focus is currently on EMR adoption, heightened demand in the cardiology IT workflow systems market will follow in 2010," says Lexie Code, manager of the healthcare IT division at MRG.
"In fact, [our] survey of over 100 catheterization labs recently found that over 20 percent of facilities that currently do not employ a catheterization lab IT workflow solution plan on purchasing one by 2011," she adds.
With this in mind, prospective MBA students may consider a program that will allow them to specialize in the area of healthcare or biotechnology.
According to a recent study from The MBA Roundtable, MBA programs across the country are making revisions to ensure they remain on the cutting-edge of today's education and give students more relevant skills.
It found that about a quarter of such programs have introduced an industry specialization.
