Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business has announced that Patagonia, a producer of environmentally-friendly outdoor wear, will work with students in the school's MBA program on 2009's MBA Focus Firm project.

Focus Firm is a 15-week class in Baylor's MBA curriculum intended to offer students real-world experience in consulting.

The class will divide into teams and work directly with environmental analysts at the sportswear company to examine company-mandated projects and cultivate team responses.

Students and representatives from Patagonia held a video conference last week to discuss details and clarify the expectations of the project.

Laurie Wilson, director of graduate business degree programs at Baylor, said the students "are very excited to work with Patagonia this semester" after the initial conference.

"The company's environmental mission provides the opportunity for students to apply their research and analytical skills in an area of extreme interest to them," she explained.

Students enrolled in associates or bachelors programs for environmental science may consider a MBA program to explore new opportunities in the industry and increase their earning potential. PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
