The Martin V. Smith School of Business and Economics at California State University at Channel Islands (CSUCI) received two awards from a recent online Business Strategy Game program.
A team from CSUCI placed first in a global business simulation and Professor Horst Liebl, the instructor of the winning team's class, was named a Hall of Fame Member and Master Professor by the Business Strategy Game.
The competition places teams of students from across the globe against each other. All teams begin with equal sales volume, revenues, profits and cost, and are challenged to make strategic decisions to build their virtual business.
Last year, the competition drew 3,600 teams from 209 universities all over the world.
William P. Cordeiro, director of the business school at CSUCI, said the game brings students "as close to real life business applications as [they] can get" as "all of the simulated activity parallels a real company's operation in a global market."
Students wishing to pursue careers in international business may increase their earning potential by entering MBA programs. PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
