MBA programs can accelerate business careers in real estate

Updated: Friday, March 5th, 2010

Real estate professionals who wish to enhance their educational qualifications may want to consider enrolling in an associates, bachelors or masters program in business, such as those that are available through Marylhurst University.

School officials have announced that students who are pursuing an MBA degree at the college will have the opportunity to add a concentration in real estate to their studies.

Over the course of 18 months, current and prospective real estate professionals will earn the degree by completing one online course at a time. The program is intended to help members of the real estate industry gain managerial skills that they can apply to their current positions or put to use in a supervisory role.

Bob Hanks, director of the school's business and real estate programs, said the online curriculum "enables working real estate professionals to combine the strengths of their experience with the additional skills and knowledge gained in a classroom setting."

The demand for real estate brokers and sales agents, whose median earnings in May 2008 were $40,150 per year, is expected to grow by 14 percent over the next eight years.
