Two schools partner to create MBA program

Updated: Monday, November 30th, 2009

South University and the Art Institute of Atlanta have launched a MBA program that is designed to be accessible to students with bachelors degrees in any discipline.

Students in the partnership's accelerated master of business administration can earn a degree through a blended format, in which they take online classes and meet every other Saturday on the Art Institute of Atlanta's campus.

The program allows participants to begin working toward their degree at any one of 11 enrollment dates throughout the year.

Officials from both schools developed the program for working adults who cannot afford to neglect their professional and family commitments to pursue a higher degree. Students in the program can schedule their studies and earn a degree in as little as one year.

Steve Yoho, dean of South University's college of business, said the program targets "the student who may have a bachelor’s degree in any field and now, after entering their workplace, [understand] how business education could enhance their career opportunities."

Students and professionals who complete associates and bachelors programs in business may enter similar programs to boost their business careers.

PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
