Hispanic Business has ranked the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Business the number one business school in the country for Hispanics in its September 2009 issue.
This is the 12th year Hispanic Business has ranked business schools according to their appeal to minorities. The schools are rated based on their commitment to diversity, enrollment of Hispanics, percentage of full-time Hispanic faculty members, student support services, graduation rates and graduate program reputation.
Dr. Lynda de la Vina, dean of the UTSA College of Business, attributes the ranking to "the quality of [the college's] academic programming and the services [it provides] MBA students and [its community]" which may "elevate the college into the upper echelon of business schools in the nation."
The business school was followed, in order, by UTSA, UT-El Paso, University of Miami, UT-Austin, Stanford University, University of New Mexico, Dartmouth, Florida International University, University of California at Berkeley and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Those wishing to pursue a business career may consider entering accredited MBA programs to increase their earning potential. PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
