Entrepreneurs' Organization holds international business competition

Updated: Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

The Entrepreneurs' Organization has recently named the winner of its annual Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.

Undergraduate students from around the world participated in the competition, which was held in Kansas City, Missouri, during Global Entrepreneurship Week.

A total of 30 small business owners from 18 countries who are working toward associates or bachelors degrees were divided into four different categories, including entrepreneur, business fundamentals, lessons learned as well as growth and future plans.

Each student presented their company to the judges, who were selected for their business expertise and devotion to helping up-and-coming entrepreneurs.

Judges chose one student to receive a $150,000 cash prize as well as mentoring services, office supplies, legal advice and access to the Entrepreneurs' Organization's global network.

The awards are intended to give student entrepreneurs a "platform to execute on their already visible natural abilities," said Kevin Langley, chairman of the organization.

Students who wish to start their own companies may consider enrolling in associates, bachelors or masters programs in business that can help them launch successful entrepreneurial careers.

PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
