McGraw-Hill introduces paperless approach to bachelors programs

Updated: Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

McGraw-Hill's new Connect learning platform may allow college students to pursue classroom-based degrees as easily as they could online degrees.

Connect is an all-digital platform that offers students and professors a customized approach to learning through a service that is accessible anytime via the Internet.

The system is virtually paperless, replacing heavy textbooks with e-books and stacks of written worksheets and quizzes with online assignments. Lectures and PowerPoint presentations can be recorded, uploaded and specifically searched, eliminating many of the organizational problems rising from scribbled notes.

Connect provides immediate, customized feedback to students to pinpoint areas of curriculum that need extra attention to address weaknesses.

"Providing students with an exceptional college education is absolutely critical if we want our country, and our citizens, to succeed in today's global, knowledge-based economy," says Harold McGraw III, chairman, president and CEO of McGraw-Hill.

He further noted that graduates of bachelors programs "earn nearly twice as much they could with only a high school diploma" and emphasized the importance of "harnessing the latest technologies to individualize learning."

Connect covers several disciplines, including economics, business, and management, which can benefit those pursuing a bachelors degree in business.
