Mobile testing center to bring business school entrance exam to remote area

Updated: Monday, October 5th, 2009

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) - used in the application process of more than 4,700 MBA programs worldwide - will be available to prospective students in remote areas through the GMAT Mobile Testing Center.

The Graduate Admission mobile exam station will embark on its fifth nationwide tour beginning October 21 and travel to 32 nationwide campuses that have primarily African-American or Hispanic student populations.

More than 100 colleges and universities have hosted the mobile test center since its launch in 2006 to offer individuals living in remote locations the opportunity to take the test without the burden of travel.

The bus includes six high-tech testing stations that use satellite communications to administer the test. The center uses the same security and identity verification measures as more than 400 permanent testing centers across the globe.

Mobile testing is intended to increase access to the GMAT. Those living in areas far from stationary testing centers may register online ahead of time to take the exam when the bus stops near them on its nationwide tour.

High GMAT test scores may help prospective business students enter MBA programs and embark on high-paying business career paths. For example, median annual earnings for financial managers in fields such as securities and commodity contracts intermediation are $131,730.
