Updated: Monday, November 2nd, 2009
The Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has announced it will hold its annual business case competition during Inside Kenan-Flagler weekend at the end of the month.
Hosted by the school's Alliance of Minority Business Students and the MBA program's office of admissions, the contest will test entrants' skills in a simulation of the business world.
The competition will also allow students to participate in panel discussions, hear speeches from business professionals and network with some of the school's distinguished alumni and faculty, such as Juan Pablo Giometti and Paul N. Friga.
Giometti, president and CEO of the National Hispanic Entrepreneurs Association, will serve as the competition's primary judge and offer his advice on real-world business issues.
Friga, director of the business school's consulting program, will speak to competitors about structuring a business case study and the best practices for doing so.
The contest will "require students to apply what they've learned
in a competitive environment," Giometti said.
Individuals who enroll in associates, bachelors or masters programs in business may have the opportunity to gain similar experiences and foster successful business careers.
PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
