West Los Angeles College to launch international online degree program

Updated: Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

West Los Angeles College’s (WLAC) new online degree program will give students around the globe a chance to participate in American bachelors programs.

Students will be able to pursue fully accredited degrees in U.S. business administration or liberal arts in a virtual setting.

Judy Chow, WLAC’s director of international student programs, said the program is intended to allow students “all over the world to complete the first two years of their bachelors degrees at a tremendous cost savings before transferring to a university.”

Credits earned through this program are fully transferable to the Universities of California (including UCLA and UC Berkeley), California state universities, many California community colleges and other U.S. universities.

The college is also offering a competition for potential online students to win a semester’s worth of textbooks.

Chow added that the college is “looking to forge strong partnerships and ties with countries [such as] China, South Korea, Japan, India, Vietnam, Canada and many others.”

Students interested in international online degree programs may also look for accredited MBA programs in order to pursue a career in international business.
