McGraw-Hill to bring business school curriculum to iPhone users
Updated: Wednesday, October 14th, 2009
McGraw-Hill Professional and Scrollmotion have announced they will partner to bring business career advice publications to iPhone users.
The business publisher and iPhone application developer will make more than 600 of McGraw-Hill's titles available for download on the smart phones.
The e-books can be read through Scrollmotion's Iceberg Reader, which adds interactive options such as search functions, email sharing and multimedia to the content.
The first round of books available through the new application will include material on business, career development, management, innovation, entrepreneurship, communication, finance and investing. By the end of this year, the application will also offer medical, engineering, computing and education books.
Calvin Baker, chief content officer for Scrollmotion, said the "audience for business books on the iPhone" includes "hundreds of thousands of commuters and other voracious readers who always have a smart phone in their pockets" as well as "globe-trotting executives."
Such innovations may make it easier for business students and professionals to succeed in undergraduate or MBA programs and increase their earning potential. PayScale.com, a research company, says that average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
